The Problem

AdelaideAZ set out to become a website for all things Adelaide, but that ambition came with a real technical challenge: storing and presenting an extraordinary number of interesting articles covering the city's past, present and future. The original CMSv5 site required a large database to hold this content, but as the archive grew, AdelaideAZ needed a faster, more modern platform to keep such a large volume of content genuinely easy and enjoyable to browse.

 

What JABA Built

The first ever website development for AdelaideAZ was a traditional JABA CMSv5 site, built to store the extraordinary number of interesting articles regarding all things Adelaide. The website has since been converted to a PWA, or Progressive Web App, so the ever-growing database of amazing Adelaide stories can now be accessed with amazing ease and speed. The large volume of high quality content makes the site genuinely engaging and fun to use.

 

What Was Technically Interesting

The website design includes powerful article search filters by category, article title and article text, helping users cut through thousands of articles to find exactly what they're after. Custom designed article tiles give users a teasing snapshot of the article content before choosing to read more, encouraging exploration rather than a single search-and-exit visit. As a PWA, the site provides fast, easy access to thousands of articles without the load times a database this size would traditionally carry.

 

Business Outcome

The move from a traditional CMSv5 site to a PWA has kept AdelaideAZ's ever-growing archive fast and accessible as it continues to expand, ensuring thousands of articles remain genuinely easy and enjoyable to browse rather than being weighed down by their own scale.
