Australian Age Of Dinosaurs

The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum required a website that would do more than simply showcase exhibits—it needed to capture the wonder, discovery and scale of one of Australia's most significant palaeontological attractions while providing visitors with an engaging and educational online experience.

JABA designed and developed a highly customised website that draws inspiration directly from the museum itself. The visual design incorporates the distinctive angular architecture found throughout the museum buildings, while the colour palette was carefully selected from materials, landscapes and exhibition spaces within the facility. The result is a unique digital experience that feels like a natural extension of the museum's physical environment.

One of the most innovative features of the website is its dual day and night viewing modes. This functionality reflects the museum's diverse visitor experiences, including both daytime attractions and special evening events, creating a dynamic and immersive browsing experience that reinforces the museum's unique identity.

A major component of the project was the development of a custom interactive fossil timeline. Built specifically for the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, this feature allows visitors to explore fossil discoveries across millions of years of history, following specimen records through time and accessing detailed information about individual dinosaur species and prehistoric life. The timeline required specialised programming and the development of custom CMSv7 functionality to allow museum staff to manage and expand this extensive dataset efficiently.

Built on JABA's proprietary CMSv7 platform, the website provides the museum team with complete control over content management. Following comprehensive training, the client has embraced the system and continues to expand the website with new discoveries, educational resources, events and visitor information.

The completed project successfully combines storytelling, education, technology and design, delivering a website that not only promotes the museum but also enhances its mission to share Australia's remarkable dinosaur history with visitors from around the world.
