The Problem

The original Light Country site was built as a traditional HTML tourism site by JABA. In 2021, the Light Council decided to upgrade to the latest technology and build a new Progressive Web App, incorporating a fresh regional brand at the same time. The council needed the new site to properly capture the region's open plains and rolling hills, not just describe them, while keeping pace with modern web technology.

 

What JABA Built

JABA worked with an outside agency to update the branding for Light South Australia, then built a new Progressive Web App around it. The site features extensive photography of the whole region, photographed over four seasonal photoshoots, ensuring Light Country is represented accurately no matter what time of year a visitor plans their trip.

 

What Was Technically Interesting

JABA also produced video content and aerial photography using drones, operating as a certified CASA provider. A series of cloud tours for each of the main towns in the Light region were also produced by JABA, giving visitors an immersive way to explore each town online before they arrive, viewable at lightinvest.com.au/cloud-tours.

 

Business Outcome

The result is a regional tourism platform that genuinely captures Light Country across every season, backed by professional drone photography and immersive cloud tours of the region's main towns, giving the Light Council a modern, visually rich platform to promote the region well beyond what the original HTML site could offer.
