The Problem

A modern martial arts academy runs on far more than class timetables. Student progress has to be tracked through a structured grading curriculum, classes and programs scheduled and managed, families kept informed, trainers given the tools to teach and assess, and rewards and achievements administered in a way that keeps students motivated. Four groups need access to all of that, and each needs something completely different: academy management need oversight, trainers need teaching and assessment tools, parents need visibility of their child's progress, and students need something engaging enough that they actually want to use it. Off-the-shelf gym software handles bookings and payments and stops well short of any of this.

 

What JABA Built

JABA developed the entire digital solution from the ground up over more than a year: the Progressive Web App wrapper, custom UX design, a complex user management architecture, responsive mobile functionality and deep integration between the application modules. The platform was built as several applications in one, with separate interfaces and functionality for Super Admins, Trainers, Parents and Students. Each user level has its own tools, permissions, dashboards and workflows, forming a single integrated ecosystem. The system handles student progress tracking, class management, training programs, communication, reward structures, scheduling and course administration.

 

What Was Technically Interesting

Multi-user architecture is where projects like this succeed or collapse. Four user types sharing one underlying dataset means every piece of information needs rules about who can see it, who can change it and what each role sees in place of it, and those permissions have to hold consistently across every module rather than being handled screen by screen. Getting that right is the difference between a platform that scales and one that becomes unmaintainable as soon as a fifth requirement appears. The more-than-a-year development timeline reflects that depth: this is enterprise-level application development rather than a website with a login. Delivering it as a PWA means all four audiences get app-like access on any device without four separate native builds, which for a platform serving students, parents, trainers and management simultaneously would otherwise be an impossible cost. The engagement layer matters as much as the architecture, since a reward and progress system only works if students find it genuinely motivating to open.

 

Business Outcome

MASA has a scalable platform that streamlines administration while giving students, families, trainers and management a professional, engaging experience of the same system. Progress tracking, scheduling, communication and rewards run in one place rather than across spreadsheets, messaging apps and paper records, which removes a substantial administrative load from an academy and gives parents the visibility of their child's progress they increasingly expect.
