The Problem

Pavilion at Prospect is a newly established function venue overlooking the iconic Prospect Oval, home of the North Adelaide Football Club, just ten minutes from the CBD. Recently renovated to provide a premier event space for indoor and outdoor functions, it hosts corporate conferences, milestone celebrations and weddings for large seated groups or bigger cocktail-style events. Being new brought a specific challenge: no brand, no online presence and no track record, in a category where couples and event planners compare venues obsessively and will not shortlist somewhere they cannot properly see. Everything had to be built from nothing, and it had to look established from the first day.

 

What JABA Built

JABA created a sophisticated visual identity built on simplicity and elegance: a black and white logo with a linear design echoing the venue's facade. That identity carried into the site as a clean, minimalist approach with black and white navigational elements, thin serif fonts and generous white space, supported by JABA's professional photography capturing the character of the space. The Progressive Web App was designed using React and CMSv7, with a custom back end that lets the client manage copy, images, layout and interactive elements such as tiles without technical help. Informative pages cover the venue layout, location, seating capacity, menu options and the full range of function and wedding packages, and the experience is enriched by an online virtual tour, a photo gallery, a flipbook of function packages and an integrated online booking system.

 

What Was Technically Interesting

Venue websites are heavy by nature: galleries, virtual tours, flipbooks and large photography are exactly the content that destroys page performance, and yet they are also the content that sells the venue. Achieving a Lighthouse audit of 98% for performance alongside 100% for both best practices and SEO on a site carrying all of that is a genuinely difficult result, and it is the clearest evidence that the React and CMSv7 combination is doing real work rather than being a technical talking point. Those scores feed Core Web Vitals and therefore search visibility, which matters enormously for a brand new venue with no established search presence to trade on. The virtual tour deserves particular mention: for event bookers comparing spaces, being able to walk through the venue online removes a site visit from the shortlisting process, which is where most new venues lose enquiries to better-known competitors.
