The Problem

Pirie Signs & Designs is Port Pirie's leading sign and design shop, covering printing, signage, custom design and teamwear. Club teamwear is a particular kind of headache to sell. Orders come from volunteer committee members rather than professional buyers, they arrive in a rush at the start of a season, and every one involves sizes, names, numbers and club-specific artwork. Handled by phone, email and paper forms, that turns into a mountain of back and forth for both sides, and errors are expensive because everything is personalised and cannot be resold. The business needed a way to take that process off the counter and put it somewhere clubs could manage themselves.

What JABA Built

JABA built a Progressive Web App that showcases the full range of printing and design services and includes a customised online portal for local sporting clubs. Clubs can browse teamwear and merchandise, personalise their selections and submit orders directly through the platform with simple navigation, which streamlines the process and supports quick turnaround times. The site also reflects the craftsmanship the business is known for, presenting the in-house design team as collaborators for signage, teamwear and custom merchandise rather than as an order-taking counter. The whole platform is fully optimised for mobile, so customers can browse services and place orders from anywhere, on the field or at the office.

What Was Technically Interesting

The club portal is the genuinely distinctive piece of work here, and it is not a standard online shop. Conventional e-commerce assumes a fixed catalogue and a single buyer; club teamwear involves club-specific ranges, personalisation on nearly every item, and orders assembled by a volunteer collecting sizes from a team. Building a purpose-made portal rather than forcing that through a generic store means clubs can work through it without training, and the shop receives orders in a structured form instead of a text message and a photo of a handwritten list. Mobile optimisation matters more than usual for the same reason: the person placing the order is a club volunteer doing it at training, on a phone, not at a desk. For a regional business, the portal also does something strategic, giving clubs across the district a reason to order from Port Pirie rather than a city supplier, because the local option is now the more convenient one as well as the closer one.

Business Outcome

Pirie Signs & Designs has a platform that takes the most administratively demanding part of the business and turns it into a self-service process, freeing the team to spend their time on design and production rather than order collation. The site presents their comprehensive range of services to businesses, clubs and organisations across the area, and the club portal gives them an ongoing, seasonal reason for local sporting clubs to keep coming back.

This is the kind of custom system JABA builds when a standard online shop does not fit how your customers actually order. If part of your business is buried in paperwork that could be handled online, we would love to help. Get a free quote for your project today.
